Stewardship Campaign 2022

We are Blessed by God through our gifts of Time, Talent and Treasure. Campaign kick off is November 6, 2022 and will continue each week with contributions from parishioners, information letters and words from Father Rob. The culmination will be Gathering-In Sunday, and as in Biblical times, all Time, Talent, and Treasure pledges received to November 20th, will be offered and Blessed, marking the end of the campaign.

Dear sisters and brothers in Chirst,

I hope and pray that this finds you doing well as we find ourselves in the midst of a seasonal transition, as we move from the warm days of summer through the cool days of fall to slowly arrive at the cold days of winter. During these last few months in which I have been serving you, I have become more and more aware of how I have been blessed by God and this community since our arrival. I have been blessed by a warm and welcoming congregation that has helped me to become a part of this parish family. I have been blessed by the individuals and groups who have gone out of their way to help us get settled. Perhaps most of all, I have been blessed to come into a community that is actively seeking its path out of the ever-shifting landscape of the pandemic and into a new and brighter horizon. As a family, we are blessed to be back in a big city, to be back around extended family, and to be building new friendships that will continue to enrich and deepen our experience here. I am blessed, and I thank God every day for all of the blessings of my life, and for each of you.

As I reflect on how I have been blessed by God, I am reminded of what St. Paul says: “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” (2 Cor. 9:8) In this verse, St. Paul is encouraging the church to reflect upon how they have been abundantly blessed by God, so that they realize they have all they need in order to do “every good work,” or as we understand it today, to carry on the mission of God. They are encouraged to reflect on how they will do the good work set before them by offering themselves out of the generosity of their hearts. In order to carry on the mission of God here at All Saints, we need you…each and every one of you.

The theme for this year’s stewardship campaign is Generosity of the Heart because it encapsulates the many ways in which we give our time, our talents, and our treasure to God. Over the next few weeks, you will hear more about how you might offer your time, or your talents, or your treasure to God through All Saints. When we think of a stewardship campaign, it can often focus solely on the treasure aspect of our giving. We can become consumed by the financial state of the parish, the annual budget, and how we best manage the funds that have been given to us. However, stewardship is more than just treasure, because it is also time and talent; how it is that we offer our time to serve inside and outside the church, and how it is that we offer our talents, share our passions with and through All Saints. In the coming weeks, we will delve more deeply into these themes through preaching, stories from fellow parishioners, and a conversation over coffee after a service.

This stewardship campaign will come to a close at the 11:00am Eucharist on Sunday November 20th. On that Sunday, we will remember and celebrate the feast of the Reign of Christ, which not only marks the end of the liturgical year and all that has happened in that time, but it also marks the beginning of a new year in our lives in Christ, as the First Sunday of Advent is the following week. During our service on November 20th you will be invited to bring forward your pledge of time, talent, and treasure and lay it upon the altar before God to receive a special blessing over our offerings. If you are unable to attend the service in-person, you are welcome to mail or drop-off your pledge, either in the plate on Sunday or to the office, and they will also be brought forward to be blessed.

And so, this is an invitation to you. Along with the enclosed pledge card, I am inviting you to spend some time reflecting on how you have been blessed by God, and how you have been blessed by this place, All Saints. I am inviting you to reflect on your passions, your talents, those things that strike a chord in your heart and feed your soul. I am inviting you to then reflect on how you might share your time, or your talents, or your treasure. There are many ways to serve in and through All Saints. You have a place at the table. You are a member of this family. Anything you offer is a welcome blessing. We are blessed by you, and I give thanks to God that you are part of this parish family.

Yours in Christ,

Fr. Rob Schoeck
