Updated: Journey to an Episcopal Election

At the 119th Synod of the Diocese of Rupert’s Land, Bishop Geoff Woodcroft announced his pending retirement on June 1st, 2025.  This initiated a process that will culminate in Synod being called to gather for the sole purpose of an holding an Episcopal Election.  At this 120th sitting of Synod, chaired by Archbishop Greg Kerr-Wilson, Metropolitan of the Ecclesiastical Province of the Northern Lights, our next bishop will be elected.

The Bishop Search Committee held its third meeting on Monday January 27, 2025. The Committee is in the phase of gathering data for the Diocesan Profile. (See the timeline here).

A video describing the process leading to our Electoral Synod in May has been posted on the diocesan website.

The Committee has created a survey for all parishioners of the Diocese to fill out.

The survey is quite detailed; expect to spend 30-45 minutes completing it fully. However, this survey is critical to the future of our Diocese. We highly recommend that you complete it as best you can.

All of the questions are optional, and the survey is anonymous. Everyone who worships in the Diocese of Rupert’s Land is encouraged to complete it, whether you’re a cradle Anglican, newly exploring your faith, or somewhere in between.

The deadline to complete the survey is February 19.

Chris Whitmore is serving both as Synod Delegate for All Saints and as a member of the Episcopal Search Committee. He is available to answer any questions you may have, as is Fr. Rob.
