Lenten Resources for Readers

Recommended by Sandi Tankard: You have likely heard the expression, “Old teachers never die; they just lose their class!”  This old teacher spent seventeen of her thirty years as a School Librarian.  Books are my happy place!

Forward Day-by-Day is a booklet citing the daily readings from the Revised Common Lectionary for the Daily Office.  Each day’s readings are accompanied with a Reflection, written by clergy or lay members of the Episcopal Church of the U.S.

I’m presently using the “Moving Forward” suggestion at the bottom of each page for praying/thinking more deeply, and journalling.

Ten pocket-sized booklets and one large-print (of the February/March/April edition) are available on the Tract Rack at the back of the Church. If you would prefer, you can subscribe to have it delivered to your email each day.

Living Well through Lent 2023; Practicing Compassion with All Your Heart, Soul, Strength, and Mind is the Living Compass Seasonal Resource which will be available on Sunday, February 19th. This resource, too, contains a thought for reflection entitled “Making it Personal”.  I invite anyone who wishes to join a discussion of the articles to gather over coffee following the 11am Worship. There will be a table set aside (kind of a Book Club without a Book!).

Visit livingcompass.org/lent to learn more, download a pdf of the devotional, or sign up for daily emails.
