A Volunteering Story

On Monday morning, June 26, at Mulvey School during their weekly virtual announcements (which are transmitted across the school), there was a twenty minute book launch of a new book called Mulvey Writers. This book was created and developed by six grade 6 students that were involved with the writing workshop that Carl Harrison mentored weekly from November 8, 2023. The six individual authors collectively generated a book of stories that exceeds twenty thousand words. Mulvey Writers was then self published by the school in house. It is a terrific looking softcover book which includes the pictures chosen by the authors back in November that went on to form the basis of their efforts over the winter and spring months. A paragraph or two of each story was read to the school at large with great pride from all of the six. It was a wonderful event. Afterwards the six authors signed each others books, including Carl's, as a remembrance of an enriching experience. A copy of the book has been gifted to All Saints Church and people are welcome to contact the office to have a look at what was created from thin air by six incredible writers. Volunteering creates its own rewards.
